Liquid Vent - Sandustry Wiki
Learn how the Liquid Vent releases Water from connected Pipes in Sandustry, where it fits in fluid networks, and why its output can stop.
Overview
The Liquid Vent is the output Building in a Sandustry fluid network. It deposits Water—or another supported non-Lava liquid—delivered by a Pump through connected Pipes. It does not create liquid; it releases liquid transported from a source.
The behavior below reflects the current Early Access fluid-system documentation. Use the in-game Objectives and Research interface for version-specific unlock details.

How to Obtain
The checked official sources identify the Liquid Vent as a player-placed part of the fluid system. Unlock details may change during Early Access, so use the current in-game Objectives and Research interface for the version you are playing.
How It Works
The Liquid Vent sits at the output end of a connected fluid network:
Water source
-> Pump
-> continuous Pipe connection
-> Liquid Vent
-> destination area
The Pump takes liquid from the source, the Pipe connection transports it, and the Liquid Vent deposits it at the destination. If Water or another obstruction occupies the deposit area, the Vent can stop releasing liquid until the output area can accept more.
Used For
- Releasing Water at the destination of a fluid network.
- Completing an automated Pump-to-Pipe fluid transport chain.
- Supplying Water to a production area without moving the source itself.
The Liquid Vent is an output component. It is not a Water source or storage system.
Related Buildings
- Pump: takes liquid from a source and sends it into the Pipe network.
- Pipe: connects the Pump to the Liquid Vent and carries the liquid.
- Filter: sorts solid materials in automation systems; it does not replace a Liquid Vent in a fluid network.
Related Resources
- Water: the liquid used by the verified early fluid-system examples.
Tips and Notes
- If a Liquid Vent is not outputting, trace the system from the Water source to the Pump, along the continuous Pipe connection, and then to the Vent.
- Check whether the Vent’s destination area is obstructed or already unable to accept more liquid.
FAQ
What does Liquid Vent do in Sandustry?
It deposits liquid delivered by a Pump through connected Pipes. In the verified early fluid chain, it releases Water at the destination end of the network.
How does Liquid Vent connect to Pipes?
Place it at the destination end of a continuous Pipe connection that begins at a Pump. The Pipe carries the liquid to the Vent, which releases it into the destination area.
Why is my Liquid Vent not outputting liquid?
Check that the Pump has a valid liquid source, the Pipe connection is continuous, and the Vent’s deposit area has room. Official documentation and current gameplay evidence both show that an obstructed or backed-up output area can stop release.
